I'm so excited about Spring, I can barely contain myself! I've updated my screen saver with a beautiful picture of blue hydrangeas, and I am opening my doors just about every chance I get! Happy New Year! Wow - 2011! Where does the time go? The recent holidays allowed me lots of time to reflect on this past year. While being busy is a great problem to have as a small business owner, it also takes just a little of the joy out of what I love to do so much. I felt like I was just cranking out the orders instead of taking the time to create and enjoy what I was doing. At times, my thoughts were to close my business completely. Other times, the thought was just to scale back. After many discussions with the husband, I have decided to stick to a few core products, while cutting back in some areas. With the continued increase of my supply costs, some things are a necessary evil. Other changes are just to keep my sanity! With that all said, below is an outline of the changes I have made and will make over the next few weeks.

*Once my current supply of clear boxes run out, I will be changing to clear bags.

*Once my current supply of 4x6 envelopes run out, I will no longer be carrying 4x6 invitations.

*No longer carrying notepads

*No longer creating blog headers, logo designs or business card designs

*No longer doing photo cards (Christmas cards or birthday invitations)
*No longer creating and printing fliers or brochures

Our Little Lady Turns 3!

Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a big fan of throwing children's birthday parties. I just tend to get too stressed and frazzled. I love the idea of them, just can't seem to pull them off! I DID, however, enjoy the preparation this year for my little lady's lady bug themed lunch. Most importantly, she loved her special day!

A Spring In My Step!

I love this time of year! The cool, crisp weather gets me motivated to clean up and clean out! I love opening the windows, lighting a candle, putting on good music and getting to work! In the spirit of "Spring Cleaning" I decided to go through my designs this weekend. I realized just how far behind I was in posting these designs, so I have decided to take a day each week for the next few weeks and post some of my favorites! Invitations have been flying out of the door like crazy lately! From baptisms to baby showers to birthday parties, I always enjoy hearing about your celebrations and am honored to be a part of the process!

In the coming weeks, I will be posting more gift tag, bag tag, thank you note and sticker designs!

The Fine Print

Happy New Year to you! It's crazy to think it is already over halfway through January, and February is just around the corner! That means Valentine's Day!!! I don't buy into the whole commercial thing as an adult (doubling the price of a meal JUST because it is Valentine's Day!), but I DO love it for the kids! Check out some ideas for Valentine's Day tags that your little ones can personalize and pass out at school! And, look for a pre-packaged Valentine gift idea that I will be posting next week!

I also thought I would start off the new year with a few reminders and a few new policies.

*As a reminder...
-Proofs will be sent prior to printing
-I will begin printing your order once proof is approved in writing AND payment is received.
(Orders are generally processed within 72 hours once payment has been received (timeframe does not include weekends).
New Policies...
-Due to increased supply fees, I am no longer able to offer the buy 4 get 1 free on note cards or the 10% repeat customer discount that was offered to customers prior to 2009. I loved being able to reward my frequent buyers, but unfortunately, this is a necessary change to keep from raising my prices across the board. *** Thank you for your understanding!
-15% rush order fee will be applied to all orders, if an order is needed sooner than the stated time frames. Again, my normal time frame for printing and shipping is approximately 72 hours (not including weekends) once payment is received. Holiday time frame is 5-7 business days from November 1 through January 1.
-I will send up to 3 proofs per project. Additional changes/proofs will be $1 per revision, to be paid in advance.

Scent-sational New Additions!!

Like a lot of ladies out there, I am addicted (yes, addicted!) to "smell goods"! Perfumes, lotions and most of all - CANDLES! So I am so excited to announce that I am now carrying a line of wonderfully fragrant candles by Carriage Candle Company. I have to be honest, I had not heard of them before my friend (and one half of my "Product Review Board"), Tami, recommended them to me. After trying them, they are now officially my favorite candles of all time! Creme Brule has always been my favorite candle, so I was thrilled when I tried Carriage's CB. It is exceedingly yummy, and I am certain I have gained 5 pounds just by smelling it (not a good selling point, is it?) :) My CLOSE second favorite is Cinnamon Sticky Buns - let's just imagine a Cinnabon baking right in your house! (I think I am seeing a pattern with my love of "food" scents!)

In addition to these two favs, I can definitely recommend the Orange Cinnamon (great scent for Fall!), Hot Apple Pie (another great Fall scent), Apple Pecan Crunch, Pumpkin Pie (limited release for the Fall), Breakfast at Tiffany's (mandarin and orange zest blend) and Mediterranean Fig (just like Trapp's, only BETTER!). Giddy Up

I love this time of year! The colors, the smells, the cooler weather! It gets me all giddy!

Another thing that gets me all giddy is working with fun customers. I recently worked with Ms. Sharon to create a music-themed invitation for her son, Henry's, 1st birthday! She and I were both very happy with the final product.

On the Move...

In addition to enjoying my summer with my pre-kindergartner and my pre-pre-schooler, we're getting ready for an out of state move! So not only am I cleaning out, organizing, making weekly trips to goodwill and trying to talk my 5 year old out of a dinosaur room in the new house (nothing against dinosaurs - we're just keeping the surf room!), this means I have to make a decision on what moving cards to make!!! It's easy for me to help customers with designs, but when it comes to making something for myself, well... I am a bit of an over-ANALyzer!

Happy NEW Year!

I am hoping this will be a "NEW" year - new website - maybe, new products - hopefully, new designs - for sure!!! I am guilty of doing what I hate when I shop - having too many choices! I guess I see the same designs every day and get bored, so I am constantly coming up with new designs! Here are a few that were popular for holiday gifts and then some that were just created this week - the damask has already been a great seller (thanks SCDC moms!) and can be done in any color combination, as well as, various pattern sizes...

Ms. Natalie challenged me with a unique invitation and matching thank you note for Sydney! She wanted "mis-match, hodge-podge, fancy" to go with a Fancy Nancy theme. My little girl is only 18 months, so I know ZIP about Fancy Nancy, but I am learning! Here is what we came up with, and I think both Natalie and the birthday girl were pleased with the final product!

So many ways to say thank you! With Sealed With a Kiss, it's no different - say it with a note card, say it with a correspondence card, say it with a design by your own little one! This year, I am excited to offer "you design it" cards! I have been doing this with my own kids for a while now. We also did end of year gifts for my son's teachers last year with artwork from the kids in his class. It's simple, it's fun - send me a scan of your child's artwork (8 1/2 x 11 or smaller), and I will design a note card or correspondence card with it! Perfect for teachers, grandparents! 'Tis The Season

I am knee deep in Christmas orders - which I love! Kudos to those who shop early! I've been shopping since June and am about 75% done with my Christmas shopping! It seems I have to get it done early these days, if I want to enjoy my own holidays!!! Since I have been creating lots of Christmas designs lately, it is obvious it is on people's minds, so I thought I would share some of my latest designs and some goodies from previous years!!

Gift tags have always been popular for the holidays (and throughout the year)! This year, I am also offering STICKERS and these have been very popular already! These designs can be done on stickers or tags and most can be done in any colors. The Evolution of a Design

The design has been such a hit, it has evolved into a couple of birthday party invitations and reproduced for more showers! This was a fun one to make - you know I love the polka dots!

Is It Fall Yet?

Anyone who knows me knows I am a freak for Fall! I love it - the pumpkins, Halloween, Thanksgiving! I love it so much so that I start getting my pumpkins and Fall decor out in September! Hey, I figure if Hobby Lobby can start putting out Christmas decorations in August, then I can enjoy my Fall just a little early, too!

With the temps lowering (even if it is JUST for the DAY here in Texas!), I got inspired to create some new Halloween invitations and pull out some previous designs, as well!

Out of Office August 28 - Sept. 1

School starts next week for my little man! I am sad the summer went by so fast, but ready to get back on a routine! We're heading out for a short getaway before school, so I will be back to work on Tuesday, September 2!

It's official! After 16 years in telecom and 4+ years doing stationery "on the side", I am now officially... uhm.... a stay at home mom? Unemployed? Self-employed? Not sure of my title yet, but I LOVE my new "position"!

I now have more time to devote to my roles as Domestic Goddess, "Mommy" and "The Card Lady". (Yes, it seems every where I go, I am introduced as "This is Lisha - you know, the card lady!".)

My wonderful web designer, friend and neighbor, Tara, is in the process of creating a new website for Sealed With a Kiss. Until then, I have created this blog to post updates, new designs and new products. In addition to the products I currently sell (note cards, invitations, birth announcements, labels, gift tags and note pads), I will be adding sippy cut labels, babysitter pads and "design your own" cards, where you can send me your child's artwork or original drawing, and I will make them into cards for you!

Just to get us started, here are some of my favorite new designs that can be used on any of my products...
